In 1999, inspired by a vision of Nanette Newman in his morning porridge, David set up Cheeky Guides Ltd and wrote the Cheeky Guide to Brighton, which remains the town’s best-selling guidebook. The Cheeky Guides to Oxford, Student Life and Love followed, together with three successful comedy stage shows based around some of these themes. Cheeky Guides are now a crack two-man team comprising the brain and brawn of Tim Bick and Dr Bramwell on tea and biscuit duty.
